Our New Headquarters Building

The New “Alps Building” – the Ultimate in Energy Conservation

The Alps Building

The Alps Building

Alps Electric’s new Headquarters building was completed in April 2010 with many energy-saving and environmentally friendly features and has been accordingly certified with the highest possible rank (S) in Japan’s Comprehensive Assessment System for Building Environmental Efficiency (CASBEE). Specifically, the building minimizes environmental burden by using movement sensors and LED for lighting; using outside light instead of conventional lighting when possible; and directing outside air inside to cool the building, all controlled by an energy-efficient electronic system. Alps also encourages its employees to take logs of how much energy they consume in the home and to reduce their water use and amounts of trash.

Building and Energy Management System (BEMS)

Building and Energy Management System (BEMS)

This management system allows automatic monitoring and adjustment of the building’s facilities which in turn can be studied and improved for further efficiency when necessary.

Totally Powered by Electricity

Totally Powered by Electricity

The entire building, including its air-conditioning, hot-water supply and dining facilities are completely powered by electricity rather than gas which can be dangerous during natural disasters and may generate more CO2 than electricity.

Energy-efficient Ventilation

Energy-efficient Ventilation

Water used in the building’s ventilation during the day is cooled at night when energy consumption is at a low. The amount of water then actually used is also controlled automatically according to air temperature.

Long-life and Energy-efficient Lighting

Long-life and Energy-efficient Lighting

Room ceilings have been fitted with light sensors which provide information for the system to automatically adjust the amount of light needed. This enables work spaces to be just the right brightness whatever the weather.
